Fashion in Jamaica and the region exists, much to my annoyance, almost outside of an international aesthetic. It's my desire, then, to build a bridge between what is innately cultural, and the international industry, all the while highlighting trends and shifts within both spheres.

BCBGMaxAzria 2010 Spring/Summer Collection
With Amerie, Keri Hilson, Amanda Bynes and Anna Wintour herself all in the front-row, BCBGMaxAzria's 10 a.m. show provided enough excitement to distract from a colourful and vibrant collection.
There was elegantly draped jersey and vibrantly color-splashed bodycon dresses. Standouts included a billowy white crepe dress with a beaded back and a bright green micro sateen trapunto one shoulder dress. Many of the pieces juxtapose skin-tight panels (for which Azria's Hérve Legér dresses are famous) and looser, comfortable draping for fresh, unfettered movement, more suited for summer wear.
Editors, bloggers, and Azria enthusiasts crammed into a packed tent to watch the unveiling of a decidedly sexy-yet-effortless collection.
