Monique Lhuillier credits the Masai warriors for her spring inspiration, but there were plenty Grecian elements, too. Her cocktail dresses were fun rather than fussy — the subtly fringed and embroidered strapless sheath, for instance — all done in a rich palette of golds, brick, blues and black. The gowns that came towards the end were true to the Lhuillier aesthetic, wrapped and draped to perfection.
Fashion in Jamaica and the region exists, much to my annoyance, almost outside of an international aesthetic. It's my desire, then, to build a bridge between what is innately cultural, and the international industry, all the while highlighting trends and shifts within both spheres.

Monique Lhuillier 2010 Spring/Summer Collection
