Fashion in Jamaica and the region exists, much to my annoyance, almost outside of an international aesthetic. It's my desire, then, to build a bridge between what is innately cultural, and the international industry, all the while highlighting trends and shifts within both spheres.

Hermès 2010 Spring/Summer Menswear Collection
Hermès menswear designer Véronique Nichanian once said "I don't do fashion, I do clothes". And for the label's 2010 menswear collection, that was precisely what we got- clothes, wearable, practical, un-trendy clothes. What more could one ask for- the most flattering, straightforward clothes in the best fabrics money can buy. Why make things any more complicated?
The collection was opulent with, the colour palette dark, with earthy shades of taupe, slate, bronze, and a deep green.
There was leather, wool, knitwear, even cashmere, fabrics that admittedly are more suited for a fall collection. Still, staying true to the aesthetic of the luxury line and with its emphasis on function over style, the collection succeded at stylish ease.
