Fashion in Jamaica and the region exists, much to my annoyance, almost outside of an international aesthetic. It's my desire, then, to build a bridge between what is innately cultural, and the international industry, all the while highlighting trends and shifts within both spheres.

Bensoni 2010 Spring/Summer Collection
Designers Benjamin Channing Clyburn and Sonia Yoon added patriotism to Bensoni's signature chic polish and savoir faire. “We decided to take American pop culture and bring that into fashion,” explained Yoon. “We called our collection AmerIcon.” A striped skirt, for instance, is a nod to Old Glory, while another top features crushed, recycled soda can prints.
But Yoon and Channing Clyburn wryly addressed the clichés in American fashion, too — without turning the lineup into one big Warhol-esque ode to kitsch. Rounding out the terrific collection were chic sailor and Girl Scout dresses as well as a few ladyfied “Mad Men” moments.
Upcoming model Sheena Moulton represented well for Saint International.
