Fashion in Jamaica and the region exists, much to my annoyance, almost outside of an international aesthetic. It's my desire, then, to build a bridge between what is innately cultural, and the international industry, all the while highlighting trends and shifts within both spheres.

Marios Schwab 2010 Spring/Summer Collection
Inspired by Victorian ladies, flappers, and Greek goddesses, Marios Schwab's 2010 spring collection looked tricky on the runway. Layering his silhouettes, placing a chain-mail top over a gauzy, draped dress that was then layered over a longer skirt, for example. Taken separately, his silhouettes worked: a gauzy pink dress that resembled a cloud formation or a pale lilac trouser suit overlaid with organza. But the layer-cake approach may have been a bit distracting.
