Fashion in Jamaica and the region exists, much to my annoyance, almost outside of an international aesthetic. It's my desire, then, to build a bridge between what is innately cultural, and the international industry, all the while highlighting trends and shifts within both spheres.

Jill Stuart 2010 Spring/Summer Collection
There were narrow sheath dresses draped in silky white fabric; tailored jackets and short skirts studded with big silver buttons and tiered ruffles at the Jill Stuart 2010 spring/summer runway show Monday afternoon.
With a girlish vibe replaced by cool, best exemplified in the skinny white and black color-blocked leggings, Stuart introduced looks informed by a rock-star sensibility. A couple of shift dresses done with mesh insets and bandage-like paneling managed to look edgy and wearable, while the minidresses (chain-mail, purple and pink sequined), revealing wide swaths of skin, probably wouldn't appeal to more conventional shoppers.
