CFW 2012: Night One

So, once again, I was invited to Caribbean Fashion Week to cover all the events and fashion shows, all held between July 7 and 11 of this year. So basically, this post is late. Way late. Without further ado, here's the best of CFW Night One.

Kerry Kay by Kerry Christian

Well-received by the audience, the Kerry Kay collection by designer Kerry Christian was the first plus-size collection undertaken by the designer.  It wasn't a particularly inventive collection, but the thing that stood out most for me, was how the pieces actually fit really well. After all, with plus-size models, you aren't making clothes with specific sizes in mind, (like you would for a regular collection) and with these pieces, Christian seemed to display a good understanding of the Caribbean female body.

The three finalists and wild-card contestant for Mission Catwalk also showed their final collections, and generally, they were nicely done. I thought the best collection, over-all, was from Crystal, but Gregory and Ryan also had strong pieces. Oh, and Gregory eventually went on to win the competition. Congrats to him! Check out highlights of the collections below:
