Fashion in Jamaica and the region exists, much to my annoyance, almost outside of an international aesthetic. It's my desire, then, to build a bridge between what is innately cultural, and the international industry, all the while highlighting trends and shifts within both spheres.

Hugo by Hugo Boss 2010 Spring/Summer Menswear Collection
In a collection very reminiscent of latter-day Givenchy, designer Bruno Pieters dazzled with about a dozen all-white ensembles. It was all lines, very clean, very minimalist, very modern. But then he moved into sky blue. Then shades of red. Then black. Then nautical stripes. Then, almost shockingly, gold.
There was almost a forensic precision to the cut and fit of these clothes, with the whites as blinding as ever. Sheer undershirts added a nice feminity that somehow seemed a natural choice as anything else in the show.
