Fashion in Jamaica and the region exists, much to my annoyance, almost outside of an international aesthetic. It's my desire, then, to build a bridge between what is innately cultural, and the international industry, all the while highlighting trends and shifts within both spheres.

Dennis Basso 2010 Spring/Summer 2010 Collection
In a lovely collection- with a Degas ballerina theme- of cocktail and elegant evening gowns, Basso mined the metals for gold-dusted python and bronze chiffon dresses or chrome for a python and lace coat over a stark little silk jersey tank dress. Ballerina dresses and skirts in subtly worked bands of gold broadtail or organza with ribbons shown with chrome silk charmeuse tops reflected a younger, fresher sensibility for Basso. This season even the furs shed their seriousness and had an airy, delicate charm.
