Fashion in Jamaica and the region exists, much to my annoyance, almost outside of an international aesthetic. It's my desire, then, to build a bridge between what is innately cultural, and the international industry, all the while highlighting trends and shifts within both spheres.

Frank Tell 2010 Spring/Summer Collection
Reminiscent of a young-Balenciaga, Frank Tell showed some 19 pieces for his 2010 spring/summer collection. Using the body-con motif, the collection was a refreshing display of street-wise edginess.
It was a seamless presentation with not one look that did not work or fit in with the aesthetic of the general collection. The tight lineup consisted of shiny, futuristic looks in metallic crushed cotton tunic dresses in silver to copper tones, all done with a minimalistic finish.
There was an 80's touch to it, too, as seen in the emphasis on the shoulder, and while the whole leather leggings may be a bit played out now, one gets the sense that the designer only used it to convey his rock chic-sexy sensibilities.
