Fashion in Jamaica and the region exists, much to my annoyance, almost outside of an international aesthetic. It's my desire, then, to build a bridge between what is innately cultural, and the international industry, all the while highlighting trends and shifts within both spheres.

Ruffian 2010 Spring/Summer Collection
Beginning with sharp linen jackets and dresses that looked timely sans excess reverence to either Michael Jackson or Sgt. Pepper, designers Brian Wolk and Claude Morais preferred the softer side of chic- taffeta skirts, cotton Swiss dot blouses.
The designers’ displayed their substantial artsy side with several eye-catching prints applied to a parade of flirty frocks and blouses. The stand-out? An impressive trompe l’oeil bouclé pattern on linen that was nearly indistinguishable from the real thing. Arlenis Sosa and Jeneil Williams both made appearances on the runway.
