Fashion in Jamaica and the region exists, much to my annoyance, almost outside of an international aesthetic. It's my desire, then, to build a bridge between what is innately cultural, and the international industry, all the while highlighting trends and shifts within both spheres.

Doo.Ri 2010 Spring/Summer Collection
Every once in a while, a designer will change their mode of designing. For spring 2010, an edginess creeped into the designs of Doori Chung. Here's a designer who has built her brand on slinky jersey dresses, and while she did offer jersey dresses this time around, she offered way more- quilted silk dresses, ruched tull, even eye-catching bubble skirts. Maybe it's the creative positivity that's been spreading around the New York runways this season... or maybe it was just the perfect time for Doo.Ri to grow up.
