Fashion in Jamaica and the region exists, much to my annoyance, almost outside of an international aesthetic. It's my desire, then, to build a bridge between what is innately cultural, and the international industry, all the while highlighting trends and shifts within both spheres.

Neil Barrett 2010 Spring/Summer Menswear Collection
Exotic and full of proportions, Neil Barrett's 2010 menswear collection echoed the Indian military- elongated jackets and britches he called "Bombay pants." His innate love of formal men's dressing meant these long jackets were single-buttoned and shawl-collared, making them elegant where they might have been gimmicky.
The sheer delicacy of the bonded elements the designer collaged for his jackets and the print that the designer admits to lifting from wallpaper, stressed Barrett's insistence on the production process rather than the actual inspiration.
