Fashion in Jamaica and the region exists, much to my annoyance, almost outside of an international aesthetic. It's my desire, then, to build a bridge between what is innately cultural, and the international industry, all the while highlighting trends and shifts within both spheres.

Nicole Farhi 2010 Spring/Summer Collection
Farhi took her inspiration from the German Expressionist painter Emile Nolde, creating a collection that was indeed painterly, splashing and daubing colors including mauve, mustard, petrol and dusky pink on to shirt dresses, shifts and wide-legged trousers. Farhi also painted blue stripes- like brush strokes- across fluttery organza blouses. There was sculpture and asymmetry too seen in hemlines and dramatic draping around the neck and hips.
