Fashion in Jamaica and the region exists, much to my annoyance, almost outside of an international aesthetic. It's my desire, then, to build a bridge between what is innately cultural, and the international industry, all the while highlighting trends and shifts within both spheres.

Karl Lagerfeld 2010 Spring/Summer Collection
Employing magnificent and robust couture fabrics- duchesse satin and a 3-D cotton-nylon blend- Lagerfeld built jackets and dresses either by folding them into soft, intriguing loops, or by cutting them into sharp, geometric angles. Pleated and flaring high-waist shorts were the statement pieces and gave his show a leggy appeal. For the finale came a suite of terrific mini-dresses gleaming with curlicues of metallic leather and pearl embroideries. Awesome!
