Fashion in Jamaica and the region exists, much to my annoyance, almost outside of an international aesthetic. It's my desire, then, to build a bridge between what is innately cultural, and the international industry, all the while highlighting trends and shifts within both spheres.

Balmain 2010 Spring/Summer Collection
In recent years, Christophe Decarnin has made a huge impact on retail fashion. It doesn't matter that you may not know who he is, chances are you've seen his jackets on Rihanna or a multitude of look-a-likes on everybody else.
For his 2010 spring collection, he continued with his shoulder obsession, fleshing out his theme of rick-star glamour. The collection itself was a no-brainer- hyper-sexy chain-mail dresses, gold-sequins, camouflage pants, metallic leggings- but what stood out even more than the pieces was the original thought behind the collection.
