Fashion in Jamaica and the region exists, much to my annoyance, almost outside of an international aesthetic. It's my desire, then, to build a bridge between what is innately cultural, and the international industry, all the while highlighting trends and shifts within both spheres.

Harper's Bazaar UK, June2009
While flipping through the pages of June's UK Bazaar, I was almost rendered dumbfounded by an editorial entitled "White Noise".
While model Tasha Tilberg and photographer Cliff Watts impressed me enough with the detailed, nuanced shots, what struck a nerve with me was the brilliant styling courtesy of Vanessa Coyle. Juxtaposing soft, white textures (laces, mesh) with metallic accents, the editorial ably pulled off and demonstrated a very urban, very now and still very futuristic downtown summer vibe.
Coyle's usage of pieces from the likes of Nina Ricca, Jil Sander, Gareth Pugh, Ohne Titel, Nicole Farhi, Balenciaga, Nathan Jenden, D&G and Prada, reveals the stylist's eye for and a sensibility informed by cutting-edge fashion.
