Fashion in Jamaica and the region exists, much to my annoyance, almost outside of an international aesthetic. It's my desire, then, to build a bridge between what is innately cultural, and the international industry, all the while highlighting trends and shifts within both spheres.

John Galliano 2010 Spring/Summer Menswear
Focusing on Napoleon's rise and fall, Galliano served uo his usual soupy darkness for his latest menswear collection. To say that the designer is an acquired taste is a huge understatement- his clothes are not for everyone.
While I particularly wasn't in awe by this collection, two things stood out for me- the waist wrappings. Whether it was a multi-coloured wrap with multi-belts, or a shirt that resembled a shorts, the wrap added an interesting and wearable element to the already over-the-top looks.
