Fashion in Jamaica and the region exists, much to my annoyance, almost outside of an international aesthetic. It's my desire, then, to build a bridge between what is innately cultural, and the international industry, all the while highlighting trends and shifts within both spheres.

D&G 2010 Spring/Summer Menswear Collection
Dolce & Gabbana's menswear collection failed to impress me- too gaudy, too over-the-top. But on focusing on staple items (the sneaker, the tee, the leather jacket, the faded denim, the jean jacket, the suit), the designers Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce reinterpreted what we wear and how we dress, rather nicely. There was a sly cowboy theme through-out the collection evidenced by the many shades of browns and tan, before the collection came to an end with the duo's by-now-rote evening finale, which featured possum-soft brown, rust, and aubergine velvet jackets with jeans and bowties. Don't over-think it, guys.
