With plenty of statement coats, from wool to animal print and quite possibly every colour in between, Philo's clothes look simple. But trust, they are deceptively so. Nothing this flawless, no matter how understated and minimal, could ever be simple. Inspiration ranged from Japanese-style colour-blocking and the sartorial 50's, touching on everything from subtle origami, patchwork and metallics.
Fashion in Jamaica and the region exists, much to my annoyance, almost outside of an international aesthetic. It's my desire, then, to build a bridge between what is innately cultural, and the international industry, all the while highlighting trends and shifts within both spheres.
