For evening, Wang offered gowns with hemlines high in the front and longer in the back with pleated bodices. The delicate fabrics were indeed very romantic, but I really wasn't feeling the palette choices; much preferred the urban charcoal and black layered numbers presented at the beginning. And really, how many pleated dresses do we need to see on a runway?
Fashion in Jamaica and the region exists, much to my annoyance, almost outside of an international aesthetic. It's my desire, then, to build a bridge between what is innately cultural, and the international industry, all the while highlighting trends and shifts within both spheres.

Vera Wang Fall/Winter 2011
