Fashion in Jamaica and the region exists, much to my annoyance, almost outside of an international aesthetic. It's my desire, then, to build a bridge between what is innately cultural, and the international industry, all the while highlighting trends and shifts within both spheres.

3.1 Phillip Lim Fall/Winter 2011
With the exception of a few awkward, oddly-shaped evening looks, this was generally a winning collection; one that emphasized structured, chic sportswear. There was a lot of folding through-out and I particularly liked the use of neoprene trimmings and twill in the structure of jackets. Lim's cropped pants and smart coats were functional and utilitarian, while his silk dresses took its cues from the classic nylon anorak.
