









While some pieces were obvious attempts at being commercial, Nicolas Ghesquière largely stuck to the roots of Balenciaga (inventive structure) and largely succeeded. His experiments with volume, as seen on a series of printed and embroidered frocks with super-short lampshade skirts, were quite daring, and though familiar to the house, very different than what is being worn; and that's precisely why we love the house.
