Phoebe Philo, in only her second collection for Celine, is fast becoming THE designer to watch. In her fall/winter collection for the luxury house, she managed the perfect balance of modernity, ease, and youthful sophistication.
Her clothes were clean and forward-looking;directional, but never too avant-garde; cool and slouchy, but never too casual.
There were slim coats in navy wool, cream sheepskin capes, and slim trousers cut above the ankle. A navy knitted vest, came short in front, and longer, shirt-tail fashion, at the back, over a knee-skirt, worn with leather boots, with a clumpy, gold heel.
With all said and done, though, I really loved this collection for its outerwear- the coats were fantastic! Wool, leather sheepskin, shearling, you name it, Philo may have very well made a coat or jacket out of it.
