Lanvin Resort 2012

Is there any other designer of female clothes who has their finger on the pulse of fashion more than Alber Elbaz? The man is a GOD of design, a real stalwart who ably gives us that perfect mix of art and commercialism. I can't find any other word to use other than "exquisite" to describe these pieces.
I especially loved the use of plissé on some of the pieces, and how opulent it made them look. Speaking of opulence, the chokers, chains, beads, and pendants that decorated each neckline were a thing to behold; this is a house known equally for its accessories as its clothes, after all.
Also on display were a few pieces of Elbaz' cutesy new children's line, and I can just imagine the cost of those. No worries, as i'm sure discerning fashionista mothers out there will shell the bucks out for that.

Lanvin Pre-Fall 2011

I'm always impressed by Alber Elbaz' collections for Lanvin, and this one had no different effect on me. More dressed up than his last few, but surprisingly still very accessible, Elbaz showed why he is the go-to-man for women who want a wardrobe filled with opulence and, above all else, class.
The shoot for the collection itself tied in with the designer's quirky aesthetics, but it really didn't subtract from the pieces themselves, pieces like a gorgeous brooch-studded tweed cardigan paired with an equally gorgeous, floor-sweeping ivory silk skirt.

Lanvin Fall/Winter 2010 RTW

Ladies and gentlemen, Alber Elbaz has done it again. For Lanvin, the dumpy designer gave us more perfectly draped dresses, chic cocoon coats and big, square shouldered power suits to lust after.

Sporting identical black wigs, with chunky wooden necklaces gleaming with rhinestone studs, the models had the raw, regal look of the ancient Egyptian queen, Nefertiti.

The label dazzled with a collection that, though starker than in seasons past, felt spot on. The looks, mostly in a somber palette of black, charcoal and navy, went seamlessly from dangerous day to sultry night- black power suits with sculptural shoulders forming 90 degree angles and nipped waist; asymmetrical silk sheath dresses with rhinestone-studded zippers running down the back that would slay in the boardroom and the nightclub. The coats with glinting studded leather belts were perrrrrrrrrrrrrrfect.

In an interview backstage, the designer said "I love women and I'm inspired by women and what they want... The biggest joy for me is to see the dress I designed on the street on real women. That's when the surreal becomes real."
