Fashion in Jamaica and the region exists, much to my annoyance, almost outside of an international aesthetic. It's my desire, then, to build a bridge between what is innately cultural, and the international industry, all the while highlighting trends and shifts within both spheres.

Rip the Runway
After seeing Lanvin's 2009 Spring/Summer RTW Womenswear collection, all I can is lovely, lovely, lovely, lovely, lovely!!!!! Doing interesting things with fabrics and draping, designer Elber Albaz used the waist and shoulder to display romantic, gorgeous designs and ideas. The collection is filled to perfection with airy shapes, focusing on intrinsic values of design and structure. But his point seems to be, in this economy, whatever can be worn now should be able to be worn in later years. Talk about financial investments.
