Fashion in Jamaica and the region exists, much to my annoyance, almost outside of an international aesthetic. It's my desire, then, to build a bridge between what is innately cultural, and the international industry, all the while highlighting trends and shifts within both spheres.

Eroticism in Fashion
Sex sells. Fashion is supposed to sell. So it doesn't take much thought to merge the two. In fact, fashion houses have, for years, been doing just that in an effort to have their products and brands sell. In surfing the internet, i've stumbled upon a few ad campaigns with overt sexual references, as well as an editorial for Numéro magazine. Shot by Matthias Vriens, the pictures go to the very boundaries of what is deemed erotic, yet all the while still remain grounded in fashion photography. I love the paradox and the juxtaposition of hard and soft (no pun intended) elements. The editorial makes one think, and is most successful, above all else, for that very reason.
