Fashion in Jamaica and the region exists, much to my annoyance, almost outside of an international aesthetic. It's my desire, then, to build a bridge between what is innately cultural, and the international industry, all the while highlighting trends and shifts within both spheres.

Nicholas K Spring 2012
Starting out with a few blindingly-white pieces, the Nicholas K collection in New York this afternoon was heavy on layering, touching on grunge influences here and there. As the collection progressed, so did the colour palette. Evening wear focused on long, graceful silken gowns, while daywear was functional and more edgy.
