Fashion in Jamaica and the region exists, much to my annoyance, almost outside of an international aesthetic. It's my desire, then, to build a bridge between what is innately cultural, and the international industry, all the while highlighting trends and shifts within both spheres.

Fall 2012: Helmut Lang
Looking at the Fall 2012 Helmut Lang collection, it's somewhat astounding that it is only the second season for which Nicole and Michael Colovos are at the helm. There's so much confidence here, it seems like the work of seasoned designers.
It was an experiment that wasn’t too dangerous- sharply cut black blazers, lots of leather and thigh-high wedge boots; an edgy display of urban chic. These guys are onto something, here...

Helmut Lang Spring 2012
Free-flowing and textured are some of the words I could use to describe Helmut Lang's Spring 2012 collection, filled with angular hemlines and edgy necklines, in what was a return to the catwalk after a six year absence.
It was a simple, yet effective collection; pieces were feminine yet tough, and very street; the look, very minimal. Draping was also another motif that played a big (and beautiful) part in the collection, as was asymmetry and layering.
